Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management Sasa Dragin today stated that the import of pork from North and South America is now banned, adding that a state programme for the vaccination of swine has been implemented in Serbia for the past three years.
In an interview with the Tanjug news agency, Dragin said that the programme has been carried out in order to enable Serbian pork exports to the EU market.
The Minister noted that the import of pork from North and South America is completely banned and that additional analyses must be carried out in order to import pork from the EU.
Dragin said that this measure is temporary.
The Minister stressed that the ban on the import of pork will not affect the domestic market because the ban does not apply to countries from where most pork is imported.
