Accelerated work on creating better economic environment

First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic stated today at a conference held on the occasion of establishment of the Senate of the Serbian economy that our country will take urgent, necessary and sweeping reforms to regulate the economic environment.

Vucic announced that by the end of June systemic laws will be adopted that will regulate the economic environment in a different way and specified that these are the laws on labour, privatisation, bankruptcy, civil servants, building permits, office for quick answers and the insurance.

The First Deputy Prime Minister stated that in his talks with Austrian Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Sebastian Kurz he guaranteed maintaining political stability in Serbia, and expressed his belief that Austria will continue to provide support and assistance to Serbia in this respect.

Vucic voiced his hope that Austria will see Serbia as a sphere of its interest in which it wants to invest, but also as a partner to whom it will point to certain errors and weaknesses.

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Dragan Glamocic said that the creation of the Senate of the Serbian economy, in cooperation with Austria, is a big chance for our country.

Serbia will work on creating a favourable economic environment at an accelerated pace, which along political stability is a basis for further development of economic relations, the Minister stated and noted that the creation of a new business environment will enable investments not only in agriculture, but in all other areas too.

Kurz underlined that Austria wants to support Serbia on its path to the EU not only in words and in talks in Brussels, but through concrete projects that will be made possible by reforms.

He recalled that these two countries are not only linked by common history, but also by cultural, economic and human ties, since around 300,000 citizens of Serbian origin live in Austria and since Austria is the greatest investor in Serbia.

After the presentation of the Senate of the Serbian economy, First Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic was granted honorary membership in the Senate of the Austrian economy, while Minister Kurz and Chairman of the Senate of the Austrian economy Hans Harer became honorary members of the Senate of the Serbian economy.

The goal of the Senate of the Serbian economy is to gather businessmen from Serbia, connect them into a network, encourage cooperation with businessmen from Austria and Germany and boost export on the European market.
