Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović stated that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury has extended the operating licence of Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) until 17 April.
Đedović Handanović noted that the extension of the licence by almost a month is especially important at this time when oil prices are jumping on the stock exchanges from day to day, and added that the Pančevo oil refinery continues to operate and the supply will remain reliable.
Citizens should not worry, there is no need to stock up, we have enough oil derivatives, stated Đedović Handanović.
The Minister said that there were no shortages on the market despite the fact that NIS’ operations have been hampered for more than a year, as well as the fact that crude oil has not been delivered to Serbia for almost 100 days.
She stated that the situation is further complicated by the conflict in the Middle East, and pointed out that a number of measures are being taken all over the world, and especially in Europe, to maintain a stable supply of oil.
We have also reduced excise duties by 20% and made a decision to release 40,000 tonnes of Euro diesel from reserves, but we will also implement other measures to maintain a stable supply, she concluded.
