Mali said after the meeting in the Serbian government that the construction of first four buildings, including the tower and the largest shopping centre in the Balkans, will start no later than by the year’s end.
He pointed out that the first phase will include relocation of one-third of rail tracks from the Sava amphitheatre to clear the site for construction for the first four buildings.
The second phase includes the completion of the railway station Prokop and Zemun station, with several smaller projects, while the third phase will encompass the construction of a bypass Bubanj Potok – Beli Potok – Vinca – Pancevo, for which the Institute of Transport CIP is already preparing the project, Mali said.
He also announced that the main railway station in Belgrade and the flea market will be relocated.
Mali announced that negotiations on financing the project are entering the final stage and added that they will be completed by the end of March.
The state will provide land while the Arab partners will provide the necessary funding, he said.
He expressed hope that the project will be completed within five years, after which Belgrade will look quite different.
Antic and Mali agreed that "Belgrade on water" is the most important development project in Belgrade and in Serbia, and that the opportunity for this project to be implemented must not be missed.
