Arduino Borgogno and Dragan Glamocic
Glamocic signed the document with Managing Director and Raw Material Purchasing Manager of the Ferrero Group Arduino Borgogno and representative of the Ferrero Group William Fulci, and the signing ceremony was attended by Italian Ambassador to Serbia Giuseppe Manzo.
The Minister pointed out that Ferrero’s investments will make Serbia become a European centre for the production of hazelnuts, given the fact that land under hazelnuts in Serbia will be increased from the current 1,000 hectares to more than 10,000 hectares by 2020.
Cooperation with the Italian company will allow improvement of hazelnut production in central and eastern Serbia, he said and pointed out that Serbia now imports 90% of hazelnut, mainly from Turkey and Georgia.
Michele Valensise
Secretary General of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Michele Valensise said that Italy firmly supports Serbia on its European path and will continue to do so in the future.
Valensise pointed out that Ferrero’s investment clearly shows that Italian companies are interested in investing in Serbia, and expressed the hope that other companies from Italy will come to the Serbian market.
Ferrero plans to establish a centre for the production of hazelnuts by setting up its own production on 1,000 hectares, and to establish cooperative relations with farmers in central and southern Serbia.
Ferrero is a leading international company in the confectionery industry, with an extensive experience in developing and managing agricultural projects, particularly in the area of cultivation of hazelnuts.
