Stabilisation, reduction of public debt important for Serbia’s credibility

Minister of Finance Lazar Krstic said today that he is confident that the measures proposed by the Serbian government will stabilise the public debt in 2016, and that it will start falling as of 2017.

At a presentation of the "White Book 2013" of the Foreign Investors Council (FIC) in Serbia, Krstic said that the stabilisation and reduction of public debt are critically important for the credibility of Serbia in the eyes of investors, the liquidity of the country in the international market, the socio-economic stability and achieving economic growth.
He also stressed that the measures are designed to leave room for the implementation of structural reforms that were supposed to be implemented in the public sector long ago, starting from state companies and banks to education, health care and government sectors.
