Minister of Finance Lazar Krstic stated today that Serbia wants to become the 29th member of the EU by 2020 and that entry to the EU is a civilisation choice made by our country.
Speaking to the American TV station CNN, Krstic said that in recent years Serbia has achieved significant progress, but that it needs to make many more steps on its path to the EU.
Serbia needs to consolidate its fiscal deficit, reduce its public debt and increase export and investments, he specified.
The most important tasks for Serbia are the fight against corruption, improvement of relations with the countries in the region and the strengthening of finance and the economy, Krstic concluded.
