Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Zorana Mihajlovic said after the 11th meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community that a total of 100 projects were proposed, of which 14 electrial energy projects were adopted, including seven from Serbia.
Mihajlovic added that the projects relate to an electric power output of 5,000 MW, where Serbia’s part is 2,400 MW.
She stressed the importance of the adopted strategy, given the fact that the whole region of South Eastern Europe has been facing a deficit of electricity since 2001.
The ministers today decided to extend the application of the Energy Community Treaty for another 10 years, until 2026. The original deadline was 2016.
The meeting brought together representatives from the ministries of energy from contracting eight parties of the Energy Community countries - Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, UNMIK/Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine.
European Energy Commissioner Gunther Oettinger represented the EU.
