Speaking at the Reuters investment summit, Krstic said that thorough talks with the IMF could be launched in the first quarter of 2014, the Finance Ministry posted on its website.
Krstic announced that the Ministry is trying to keep the budget deficit below 5% of the GDP while the public debt should total 65% by the end of the year.
Krstic recalled that he expects the IMF technical mission should arrive in Belgrade in early October as part of government preparations of the 2014 budget and the long-term fiscal strategy until 2016.
When it comes to further talks with the IMF on the potential arrangement, the decision will be made after the completion of the technical mission and budget adoption, the minister said and added that from the standpoint of the sustainability, this could happen in the first quarter of 2014.
Krstic expects the reform programme to be made public within the next two weeks while the tax reform would yield visible results as of 2015.
According to him, the government will have to reach an agreement on the pension system reform by mid-2014.
