Company Mubadala to build research, development centre in Serbia

Minister of Finance and Economy Mladjan Dinkic said today that the company Mubadala from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will build a centre for research and development in Serbia, adding that that is the first phase of a possible chip factory.

Speaking at a press conference at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Dinkic said that the company Mubadala decided to start with a few specific projects in the next six weeks, the most important of which is the first phase of the possible construction of a chip factory in Serbia, i.e. a semiconductor factory.
According to him, the first phase is the construction of a centre for research and development, and this investment is worth several hundred million dollars, even though it will employ only 50 people - top scientists with PhD degrees.
After that, if Mubadala sees that Serbia has enough experts for the chip factory, or that it can get them in the region, it would build the plant in the second phase, the Minister explained.
He pointed out that the estimated investment in the chip factory by Mubadala is approximately €4 billion.
