The Minister said after the signing of the document that the funds are intended for users of 12 municipalities in the south and southwest Serbia, specifying that the project will be implemented over the next four years.
The agreement was signed by Director of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) in Serbia Susan Fritz and Director of the National Agency for Regional Development Ivica Ezdenci.
The Minister pointed out the importance of this project, given that it will contribute to the strengthening of SMEs and entrepreneurship.
The Minister added that Serbia should seriously improve the real sector and the ways of filling the budget, so as to have sustainable public finances and a better living standard for the citizens.
She said that the signing of this document is another indication of a greater mutual trust, cooperation and support between the government of Serbia and the United States.
The Minister recalled that a memorandum that provided a framework for the current contract was signed two months ago, noting that the project will be implemented over the next four years, with the budget in the first two years of slightly more than $4 million.
US Ambassador Michael Kirby, who attended the signing, said that he is pleased with the way the US government and USAID conceived the project.
He said that this is an opportunity to show that the capacitis built by the Serbian government can be used for it to be a good partner to the US government.
