NCR, a global leader in the production and marketing of ATMs, opened in Belgrade a centre which employs 300 professionals and has now decided to further invest and hire another 300 workers, after it has received state incentives in the amount of €5,000 per job.
Dinkic said that the Serbian government through this contract with NCR wants to support a large company from the IT industry and related services in an effort to expand its activities in Serbia.
According to him, the government provided support for hiring 300 new young professionals in the company, mainly engineers with technical universities, who speak several languages.
The Minister said that the aim of the government is to encourage the development of IT industry, which is one of the priorities of the National Plan of re-industrialisation.
He said the plan was adopted to support the IT industry was adopted, and that a competition for the support of start-up projects in IT will be announced in May.
In that way, beginners will get a grant of up to €25,000, provided that there is a company that wants to work with them, he explained.
Support means that lower taxes and contributions for employees in the IT industry by one-third, he noted.
O'Laughlin said that this investment demonstrates strong confidence that NCR has in Serbian workforce and the system support to foreign direct investment provided by the government of Serbia.
O'Laughlin explained that the NCR centre in Serbia provides technical support for 50,000 ATMs, 80,000 payment stations, 19,000 devices for self-service check-out, as well as 20,000 servers and PCs.
