Opening the Serbia-Turkey Business Forum at Hotel “M”, Ljajic said that trade exchange between the two countries is not at a satisfactory level and that it stands at approximately €500 million, and voiced his hope that it will reach €1 billion next year.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that there are only 30 Turkish companies in Serbia and that there is a great potential for the improvement of mutual economic cooperation.
The two states have excellent political relations at the highest level and have signed all the agreements necessary for the improvement of economic cooperation, Ljajic underlined and added that now it is businessmen’s turn to achieve better cooperation.
According to him, it is in Serbia’s interest to reduce deficit in trade with Turkey given it has a lot to offer to the market of that country.
The forum gathers 43 Turkish businessmen from the Confederation of Industrialists and Businessmen (TUSKON) from Turkey, as well as more than 60 representatives of local companies.
The forum has been jointly organised by SITA Association and the Belgrade Chamber of Commerce.
