Retail trade turnover drops in January

The Serbian Statistical Office stated today that retail trade turnover in January 2013 compared with January 2012 increased by 1.9% at current prices and decreased by 9.3% at constant prices.

In January 2013, compared to December 2012, turnover of retail trade decreased by 26.1% at current prices and by 26.2% at constant prices.

Turnover of retail trade in January 2013 compared to 2012 average decreased by 16.3% at current prices and 20.4% at constant prices.

Data on retail trade turnover of legal entities are obtained from regular monthly statistical survey “Monthly report on retail trade”. Turnover of unincorporated enterprises is based on VAT reports, obtained from the Tax Administration, for the period observed.

All published indices should be regarded as preliminary, meaning that certain corrections can appear on the basis of the results, obtained in the quarterly statistical survey (regarding the set of legal entities) and processed quarterly VAT reports (regarding the set of unincorporated enterprises), published as a separate statistical release.

The turnover indices at constant prices are obtained by deflating the indices at current prices by the corresponding indices of retail prices, excluding: water (from public utility systems), electricity and motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts, reads a statement by the Statistical Office.
