Ljajic said after the signing of this document that the declaration, which is not binding, will contribute to the development of partnership with players on the market.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that the state will not influence the free formation of prices on the market, but it will create a more competitive environment and continue with the process of market liberalisation.
He pointed out that the relevant ministry will do everything to attract new retail chains to Serbia, noting that this is possible if the state provides a necessary legal framework and security and reduces administrative barriers.
According to him, trade is an important sector in Serbia, and every third company in our country belongs to the trade sector, and one in five employees works in that sector.
Trade accounts for 11.7 % of Serbia’s GDP, and this percentage may be even higher if conditions are created for the arrival of new retail chains.
Ljajic announced that the final model of social basket could be completed in two months, which would include basic foodstuffs at affordable prices for the underprivileged.
The Declaration on the promotion of trade sector was signed by representatives of the largest retail chains in Serbia.
