Minister of Regional Development and Local Self-Government Verica Kalanovic said today that the arrival of the company Saint Gobain Weber, which purchased the factory Karbon from Topola, is the best possible promotion for Serbia and that it represents the opening of the door to other reputable companies.

At a ceremony at the French Embassy in Belgrade, at which the said company announced the purchase of Karbon, Kalanovic underlined that the arrival of this company in our country brings new quality not only in the range of building materials, but also in the transfer of knowledge and experiences to local experts in the field.
The Minister indicated that for our country it is especially important the use of the French experiences in the production of building materials, as well as experience in the education of workforce for productive performance.
This is a very important component of our development, she said and pointed out that the ministry's strategy is to create a favourable environment in all regions of Serbia through increased competitiveness and ability to attract new investors.
Kalanovic stressed that the Serbian government makes significant efforts to provide incentives to companies like this one that opt for investing in our country despite the economic crisis and improve the business environment through significant reforms.
The French company Saint-Gobain Weber is one of the world's leading manufacturers of construction materials with a tradition of over 300 years.
As one of 100 largest industrial groups in the world, Saint-Gobain Weber operates in 64 countries and employs 195,000 people, with a turnover which reached €42.1 billion last year, reads a statement by the Ministry of Regional Development and Local Self-Government.
