Domestic construction companies to take part in building Ljig–Preljina section of Corridor 11

Minister of Construction and Urban Planning Velimir Ilic affirmed that the government will make an advance payment of over €60 million to Azerbaijan-based company Azvirt so that domestic construction companies can be engaged in the construction of the Ljig–Preljina motorway section on Corridor 11.

Opening the 7th international investment and real estate fair “BelRe” at the Belgrade Fairgrounds, Ilic said that these funds will be an incentive for the revival of the road sector.
He noted that five construction sites have already been opened on Corridor 11, near Ljig and Gornji Milanovac, because the government session held on 27 October managed to resolve the outstanding issues, such as VAT, expropriation, customs and others, which had hindered the realisation of the project. He also added that an advance payment has now been secured and the construction permits completed.
The Minister recalled that the construction of two tunnels near Ljig and Gornji Milanovac has also begun.
Speaking about the offer of Chinese companies to participate in this project and build the section from Belgrade to Ljig, Ilic announced that the next government session will decide which Chinese bidder has made the best offer for the Obrenovac–Ljig section, excluding the section from Ub to Lajkovac, which is already being built by domestic companies.
One Chinese company offered to construct the Obrenovac–Ljig section for €5.8 million per kilometre, he observed.
Ilic recalled that the Chinese Exim Bank will provide a very favourable loan to Serbia, with an interest rate below 3%.
A public-private partnership with a Chinese company is also under way concerning the construction of the motorway from the Zemun–Borca Bridge in Belgrade to Obrenovac, which will include a huge bridge on the Sava River and an intersection in Surcin, the Minister remarked.
