In the first quarter of 2011, the real growth of GDP against the same period last year was 3.0%, in the second quarter 2.5%, in the third quarter 0.7% and the fourth quarter 0.4%.
Observed by activities, in the fourth quarter of 2011, the highest growth in the gross value added was noted as follows: the sector of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply – 16.7%, the sector of mining and quarrying – 14.8%, the sector of information and communication – 8.7% and the sector of construction – 8.6%. The highest fall in the gross value added was recorded in the sector of wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – 7.5%.
According to seasonally adjusted GDP data, the economic performance decreased by 0.3% in the fourth quarter of 2011, if compared to the previous quarter.
