“Meeting with Buyers” to boost Serbia’s economic competitiveness

Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric today stated that as part of the “Meeting with Buyers” over 300 Serbian companies will have an opportunity to establish business cooperation with 35 large multinational companies over the next two days.

Speaking at a business fair “Meeting with Buyers – Serbia Open 4 Business”, Ciric said that large companies, including Coca-Cola, Ball Packaging, Delhaize and Schneider Electric will present their activities at the meeting and look for new producers and suppliers from Serbia.

The business fair aims to increase the competitiveness of the Serbian economy and export, which is of immense importance in the time of narrowed markets and economic crisis, Ciric remarked.

He noted that the organisers want to bring together as many domestic producers as possible, especially SMEs, so that concrete deals can be closed and business cooperation established.

He added that the companies that exhibited at this fair include large companies from France, Russia, Bulgaria and other countries.

Ciric said that over 30 contracts worth €450,000 were signed at last year’s meeting.

Local companies in the field of primary agricultural production and processing and in the field of metal industry have the greatest opportunity for establishing business partnerships with large international companies, said the Minister.

He recalled that so far four such events were held, two in Belgrade and Kragujevac each, and added that approximately 300 companies had an opportunity to meet with international buyers and establish business cooperation.

The business gathering is realised as part of the Support to Enterprise Competitiveness and Export Promotion (SECEP) project financed by the EU with €3.5 million, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, SIEPA Agency, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the National Agency for Regional Development.
