New factories in Leskovac create 2,000 new jobs

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Regional Development Verica Kalanovic presented today representatives of Serbian and foreign companies which received state incentives for direct investments and employment of new workers in Leskovac with five contracts.
Kalanovic stated that investments by two Serbian and three foreign companies are worth more than €25 million, while the state incentives surpass €13 million, adding that over 2,000 people will be employed in these companies’ factories.
She said that the largest factory in Leskovac is being built by South Korean Company Yura which will invest more than €13 million in the construction of its fourth factory where over 1,500 people will find jobs.
Four companies received €6,000 per new job created, while the company Yura received €7,000, Kalanovic stated and added that this is an important day for Leskovac and the south of Serbia seeing that more than 8,000 people left the town in the past ten years.
The Deputy Prime Minister commended the investors for their courage to invest when the second wave of economical crisis is looming, adding that Serbia will fulfill its obligations toward them.
Leskovac belongs to the group of municipalities of special interest entitled to double incentives by the Decree on terms for attracting direct foreign investments.
The municipalities of special interest are those with over 50,000 inhabitants and the unemployment rate above 20%.
