Ciric told Beta news agency that the new law, whose proposal will be submitted to the Parliament next week, will enable local self-governments to implement projects in their territory without involvement of the Serbian government.
He explained that the idea of this law is to make a long-term partner relation between the public and private sector.
The Minister said that this concept exists in Europe and that the new aspect of this law is that public-private partnership may be contractual or institutional through the establishment of a joint venture which will implement specific projects.
The proposal of this law extends the period to which concessions can be given from 30 to 50 years, depending on the type of the project, Ciric pointed out.
He noted that there is already a great interest by private companies to finance certain projects with their own funds or with the help of financial institutions, and majority of these projects deal with providing local services and construction of local infrastructure and capacities.
