While touring the preparation works for the construction of new production halls of Fiat’s subcontractors, which is in line with FAS’ investment project in this town, Ciric specified that the investment is estimated at approximately €100 million.
He stressed that by the end of the year the government will meet its share of obligations and construct an interchange with access roads to this location.
Works on two-thirds of the area of former military barracks Grosnica are under way, the Minister noted, announcing that construction on the rest of the land will commence once the entire barracks is relocated.
Two-thirds of production facilities for car components should be completed by March or April 2012, Ciric underlined.
FAS Kragujevac will hire around 2,500 people, the car parts factory another 1,000, and almost 10,000 people will live directly off car production, he observed.
FAS Director General Giovanni de Filippis explained that four component producers, such as the manufacturer of plastic seats and rubber car parts, will be located on the parcel previously belonging to Grosnica barracks.
Three other car parts producers will locate their production plants in the premises of the old car factory in Kragujevac, where exhaust systems and electronic components will be produced, he stressed.
On the Grosnica location, five new factories of Fiat’s suppliers will be opened, namely Johnson Controls Seats, Proma, Sigit and HT&L Fitting, while two more factories will be built within Zastava’s compound.
There factories will produce car parts for FAS, and will hire 994 new workers, while the investments will total €93.7 million.
Following the visit to the military barracks, Ciric officially opened the headquarters of the National Employment Office, a modern public service providing assistance to over 750,000 unemployed persons and employers in Serbia.
