Serbia, Belarus to sign amendments to Free Trade Agreement

Minister of Economy and Regional Development Nebojsa Ciric will sign tomorrow in Minsk a Protocol on amendments to the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and Belarus, harmonising the trade of our country with the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
The Ministry of Economy and Regional Development stated that this document will allow an increase of competitiveness of Serbian economy and exports, as well as enhancing mutual trade exchange with the Member States of the Customs Union.
In the first four months of this year, total trade with Belarus amounted to $48.3 million, of which Serbia's exports amounted to $13.8 million (an increase of 66.6%) and imports $34.5 million (an increase of 8.9%).
The prospects of future cooperation between Serbia and Belarus are in the field of agriculture, metal processing, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, production of consumer goods and building materials, as well as in the area for investment and tourism.
The process of harmonisation of trade of Serbia with the Customs Union will soon be ended by signing the document with the Russian Federation.
On 7 October last year Serbia signed a free trade agreement with Kazakhstan.
