At a celebration on the occasion of the new school year for the first generation of students at the Academy, formed by merging the previous Police Academy with the Interior Affairs College, Jocic said that through a forceful process of building an efficient and modern police force, a considerable step forward has been made regarding police education.
Representative of the OSCE mission in Serbia Paulo Costa voiced hope that students will study at the Academy with great success and afterwards serve Serbian citizens and play the important and responsible role they are preparing for.
The transformation of the academy is part of the reform of the entire police system in Serbia and the OSCE mission is here to provide counselling and any other form of assistance in this time-consuming and complex process, said Costa.
Serbian Minister of Education and Sport Slobodan Vuksanovic said he is pleased that police schools have become integrated into the Serbian school system while retaining their specific nature due to the future profession of their students.
This school year, 120 students have enrolled at the Police Academy and they will be financed from the budget. There are 15 female students in each department.
