Speaking at the event “Serbia’s Reform Momentum: From Commitment to Delivery”, organised by the Government of Serbia and the Mission of Serbia to the European Union, Đurić said that Serbia, which borders eight countries, plays an important role in preserving regional stability and that its European integration contributes to the stability of the entire Western Balkans.
He underlined that Serbia pursues a responsible policy focused on peace and stability.
The head of Serbian diplomacy noted that the country is also working to resolve outstanding issues through the Belgrade-Priština dialogue and is participating constructively in that process in order to preserve stability in one of Europe’s most sensitive regions.
He presented an initiative under which the Western Balkans would be gradually integrated into the EU single market and the Schengen Area, assessing that such an approach would bring significant economic benefits, enable the freer movement of people, reduce the scope for divisive policies and, at the same time, strengthen the security of the European Union.
The Minister called on Serbia’s European Union partners to judge the country by its actions rather than its words and invited them to witness its progress first-hand.
In addition to Đurić, the results of the reform process and Serbia’s progress towards European Union membership were presented by Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabić, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Siniša Mali and Minister of European Integration Nemanja Starović.
