Officials of the governments of Serbia and Croatia today marked the beginning of reconstruction of the home of great Serbian scientist Milutin Milankovic, which should be completed in six months.
Serbian Minister of Science and Environmental Protection Aleksandar Popovic said that the Serbs and Croats have not requited to this great man in a right way and announced that the governments in Belgrade and Zagreb will do everything to fix that and to make his house in Dalj a memorial place.
Popovic specified that the Serbian Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection will invest 17 million dinars in the reconstruction of Milankovic's house, while the Croatian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport will finance the renovation of the house's interior and form an educational centre in which the young will be able to study the areas to which Milankovic dedicated his work.
State Secretary at the Croatian Ministry Zelimir Janjic said that the country and the people who engendered such a genius as Milutin Milankovic are proud and that we should be respected for that in the world.
Janjic expressed hope that the renovation of the house of Milutin Milankovic will also mark the beginning of cooperation of the two ministries and announced that local authorities in Dalj will propose naming a street in this town after Milankovic.
