€43m for more efficient work of state administration

Serbian Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic said today that the Serbian government will set aside €43 million for introduction of universal computer network for Serbian state administration, modernisation of local self-government and public procurement of equipment.

In a conference on innovations in the work of e-government, Dinkic said that Serbia has made only initial steps in that direction and added that a lot more needs to be done.

E-government is the future of all countries wishing to develop fast, and the aim of the Serbian government is to establish such e-administration both on the state and local level in the next four years, Dinkic said.

He explained that e-government will reduce expenses, improve efficiency and reduce corruption.

Dinkic announced that personnel training is therefore needed and announced that a tender for purchase of 30,000 computers for primary and secondary schools and faculties will be announced.

The tender will be published in all dailies and in the Official Gazette, he said and added that this will be the largest purchase of computers in Serbia, which is why the process will be very competitive.

The conference on e-administration was organised by the Serbian Association for Accounting, IT, Telecommunications and New Media and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS).
