Speaking at a press conference held after the talks with the president and judges of the District Court, presidents of local courts and the Commercial court, district and municipal prosecutors and the head of the Council for Misdemeanours, Stojkovic said that the new Constitution gives greater importance to the Constitutional court.
The Minister of Justice also pointed out that decentralisation is better regulated in the new Constitution and that those who are complaining now in Vojvodina actually feel sorrow for the old Constitution from 1974.
The new Constitution excludes the possibility of creating para-state institutions and secessionist tendencies.
The local self-government has been given original powers, protected by the new Constitution, and no one will be able to cheat citizens anymore because they will easily recognise who is doing a good job, and who isn’t.
Speaking about the results of work of the Sremska Mitrovica District Court, Stojkovic said that this court used to work well, then the situation deteriorated, but now it is returning to its previous position.
He said that the Ministry of Justice has done a lot to improve the working conditions of judiciary organs and announced that all debts to them will be cleared by the end of the year, which will especially improve the position of trainees.
The Minister said that €30 million will be set aside from the National Investment Plan for this and next year on the improvement of work of judiciary organs.
Stojkovic pointed out that judiciary legislation adopted so far is fully in accordance with pro-European standards and harmonised with the Constitution whose adoption is underway.
