Director-General of DonCafè in Serbia Arik Gilboa said that the plant will be completed by September next year and that it will be among the most modern plants of its kind in southeastern Europe.
Gilboa said that the plant will have the most modern technology for coffee processing and that its output will be 18,000 tonnes of coffee per year, and that the plan is to increase output to 30,000 tonnes per year.
A distribution centre will be built as part of the plant which will provide Serbia and countries of the eastern and western Balkans with coffee.
Bubalo said on the occasion that the opening of the new factory for processing coffee will create employment, and lead to an increase in Serbia’s exports and economic development. He recalled that Serbia achieved a number of positive results in economy during the previous period, such as GDP growth, budget surplus, investments worth more than €4 billion and successfully implemented reforms.
Parivodic said that the general assessment by foreign investors is that Serbia has a valuable work-force, and is ahead of its neighbours in that area. He added that Serbia is the foremost country in the Balkans in investments during 2006, and that the new Constitution will facilitate Greenfield investments which will strengthen the country’s growth.
The ceremony of laying the corner stone for the new factory was also attended by Israeli Ambassador in Belgrade Yaffa Ben Ari, who said that this investment will accelerate Serbia’s process of joining the EU.
