Milosavljevic opened today a cardiac cathetarisation room at the Clinic for Cardiovascular diseases and the Ward for Treatment of Patients with HIV at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases in Nis. He said that this is the 12th cardiac cathetarisation room opened in Serbia in the last two years, and emphasized that only two such rooms had been opened in the previous 11 years.
The opening of the Ward for Treatment of Patients with HIV was financed by the World Bank from the Global Fund with €33,000, while the Clinical Centre invested €20,000. The Ward has a centre for supervising 56 persons infected with HIV, and four beds for hospitalisation.
Milosavljevic said that Serbia has 900 persons infected with HIV who have been so far treated in Belgrade alone. From now on, there will be wards for HIV treatment in Nis and in other Serbian clinical centres.
The Minister recalled that since 2002, €150 million of debts of Serbian health institutions have been settled. He announced that in November a competition will be announced for designing and supervision in the reconstruction of clinical centres. The deadline for completion of all works is October 2009.
Milosavljevic held a lecture at the University of Nis themed "Achievements and limitations in the reform of Serbian health system". He said that 2010 will be a crucial year because by that time the reorganisation of community health centres will have been completed entirely with the introduction of information systems.
According to Milosavljevic, the building of Emergency Centre in Nis which was erected during the 1970s will get one more part, and one new building will be erected with 1,500 beds.
Milosavljevic said that 212 million dinars have been invested so far in the Clinical Centre of Nis, while the value of equipment purchased is 378 million dinars.
