Serbia ready to deliver power to Serb enclaves in Kosovo

Serbian Minister of Energy and Mining Radomir Naumov met today with Brussels representatives of the Directorate-General for Energy and Transport and presented the problems faced by those living in Serb enclaves of Kosovo-Metohija in securing a regular electric power supply.
Naumov told Tanjug news agency that he asked for support in the forthcoming talks with UNMIK on solving this problem and expressed belief that Serbia’s readiness to deliver electric energy to Serb enclaves in Kosovo-Metohija will be realised.
He added that he expects that once the talks with UNMIK start our country will get support to deliver electricity, noting that the European community should get interested in that problem.
The Minister explained that the Serbian delegation in Brussels met with representatives of the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe, Directorate-General for Energy and Transport and European Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas.
European officials supported Serbia’s idea to form the Energy Community of South East Europe (ECSEE) together with other Balkan countries, Naumov said.
According to him, it was agreed to hold a meeting with representatives of this initiative in late October in order to harmonise joint steps.
He pointed out that EU representatives are interested in the pan-European oil pipeline from Constanta to Trieste and announced that representatives of countries involved in this project should meet on October 20 with European Commission representatives in order to overcome disagreement with Slovenia on ecological problems.
