Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic opened today a Preventive Health Care Centre in the Zrenjanin health centre, within the project of the Ministry of Health, “Improvement of Preventive Health Services in Serbia”.
Milosavljevic said on the occasion that Zrenjanin is one of 25 cities in Serbia where preventive health care is top priority in health centres, which should help early diagnosis of non-infectious diseases, such as malignant or cardiovascular diseases.
He said that centres for preventive health care should work the whole day, with existing personnel to provide preventive health care to citizens, leading to a reduced fatality rate.
The Ministry of Health project, “Improvement of Preventive Health Services in Serbia” is being financed by the EU through the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR), with the aim of reforming primary health care and organising preventive health services.
Head of the project Brian Potter pointed to the fact that for improving health it is necessary to promote healthy eating habits, physical activities and inform the public about the dangers of smoking.
