Parivodic said at the opening that the first concrete factory in Serbia is state-of-the-art and hailed Holcim’s new venture.
Holcim, owner of a cement plant in Novi Popovac, invested €150 million last year, which makes this company one of the biggest foreign investors, Parivodic said, adding that this company plans to invest more.
According to him, the Serbian government decided to be a good host and to ensure that legislation is of the kind foreign investors are used to.
Holcim Srbija Director Gustavo Navarro stressed that the new concrete factory is the first of its kind in Serbia and is fully in compliance with world standards, with an annual production of 100,000 cube metres.
In 2005, Holcim delivered 38 million cube metres of concrete globally, and by the end of 2006 the company’s plan is to exceed $90 million in investment.
