Miscevic said that we expect a positive assessment for fulfilling European obligations and standards, but a less positive one regarding the fulfilment of political criteria, which is the reality we face at this moment.
She said that the key to European integration is implementation of law and reforms, and added that Serbia’s capacity regarding know-how and readiness to engage in the process of European integration is limited, and each halt in negotiations on association with the EU brings Serbia into a bad position.
According to Miscevic, the EU Integration Office will prepare the next plenary meeting which will be dedicated to fulfilment of political criteria, which is the first time that an EU candidate country is making an agenda.
At the same time, the conclusion of the memorandum with faculties and trade unions is also in preparation, which will round up the process of cooperation between the EU Integration Office with all important structures outside the state sector.
Secretary General of the European Movement in Serbia Ksenija Milivojevic stressed on the occasion that negotiations between Serbia and the EU should not be halted, and pointed to the importance of dialogue between the state and citizens.
Milivojevic explained that the project “National Convent on the EU” which was recently initiated by the European Movement aims to bring all social partners together, above all state institutions, but also non-governmental organisations and the wider public.
Representative of the Fund for an Open Society Jadranka Jelencic recalled that since January 2006 this organisation has been monitoring the process of EU association and Europeisation of social, political, economic and legal fields in Serbia.
