Milosavljevic told a press conference that the ward has been renovated as part of the Ministry’s project “Urgent Reconstruction of Health Institutions in Serbia”.
Apart from two wards for artificial insemination in Belgrade, one ward has been opened in Novi Sad, which will make it possible for nearly 300 interventions to be carried out per month, he said.
Milosavljevic pointed out that the cost of between €2,000 and €2,500 for artificial insemination will be fully covered by the Health Insurance Fund.
According to Milosavljevic, all women under 38 without children will get the opportunity to have one artificial insemination if it is the only way for them to get a child.
Director of the maternity hospital on Visegradska Street Nebojsa Radunovic said that nearly 1,700 couples signed up for artificial insemination in Belgrade, although preliminary estimates show that there are more than 200,000 couples who need this type of treatment.
The ceremony was also attended by Narodni Front Director Slobodan Runic and head of the artificial insemination department Milenko Prorocic.
