Private company Intertours was given an award for results in the export of tourist services, In Hotel for investments made in tourism, Kontiki Travel for results in financial operations and Air Tours Company for winning new markets. All four companies are from Belgrade.
The award for the realisation of entrepreneur initiatives and innovations in tourism was given to Ribarska Banja, and for market communications to the International Tourism Fair in Belgrade.
The Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management of the Singidunum University was given an award for education and advanced training, and Magelan Corporation from Novi Sad for the application of new technologies.
The Palic Ludas public company and the Tourist and Sport Centre from Vrnjacka Banja were awarded for the most successful management of tourist destinations.
The Movement of Conservationists from Sremska Mitrovica and the special nature reserve Zasavica were given awards for environmental protection and sustainable tourism development, and the award for life achievement and contribution to development of tourism was posthumously given to Branko Jelovic who is the ideological creator of this award.
The White Angel award was established by the Serbian Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Services with the aim of enabling Serbia to position as good as possible on the world tourist market and it was decided that it should be presented on September 27, on the World Tourism Day.
The participants were welcomed by Deputy Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organisation Taleb Rafai, who said that tourism improves economy, brings people together and changes states and added that last year alone the world economy gained $800 billion from tourism.
Apart from Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Services Bojan Dimitrijevic, the event was also attended by Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo, Director of the EU Integration Office Tanja Miscevic, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Slobodan Milosavljevic and other public figures.
