Government, EU Commission discuss reforms in several sectors

The Serbian government's EU Integration Office stated that representatives of the Serbian government and the EU Commission are holding a sectoral meeting today in Belgrade as part of the advanced standing dialogue to discuss reforms in the sectors of environmental protection, veterinary and phytosanitary issues, fishery and financial control. Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Ivana Dulic-Markovic delivered the opening words.
The statement adds that Serbian government experts will present the National Sustainable Development Strategy and National Environmental Protection Strategy, as well as the results of the progress achieved in law harmonisation and implementation in the stated sectors.
There will be talks about investments in environmental protection, institutional capacities for implementation and enforcement of legislature at the national, regional and local levels and about regional and international cooperation in environmental protection.
Special attention will be paid to inner financial control, systems, responsibilities and control of administrative organs in charge of revenues and spending. The meeting will also concern law harmonisation and institutional capacities in food safety and the fishing sector.
Present at the meeting will be representatives of the Environmental Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection, representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Ministry of International Economic Relations, competent boards of the Serbian parliament, as well as experts from the EU Integration Office, concludes the statement.
