Stojkovic explained that this system, first of its kind in Serbia, will secure an automatic record keeping on all cases from their opening to bringing a court decision, with which one of the crucial goals of the National strategy for reform of judiciary will be achieved - transparency.
He specified that this system will enable courts to follow the course of individual cases over the Internet, schedule hearings, remove unnecessary delays, print standardised forms and legal documents and submit unique statistical reports on their work to the Higher Commercial Court, the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Justice.
With a more efficient work of courts and data availability, corruption will be significantly reduced and the court will be able to protect physical and legal persons and investors to the greatest extent, Stojkovic said.
According to the minister, cases in domestic commercial courts are solved much quicker than before, and after the introduction of this system, a secure economic environment can be expected in which it will be possible to invest and work without risks.
Polt said that the introduction of the automatic case handling system, which will bring Serbia's courts a few steps closer to the European Union, modern world standards and the rule of law, demonstrates the resolve of Serbian courts to eliminate corruption and improve the enforcement of law.
This system is a part of US assistance to Serbia in the reform of court administration, the US Ambassador said and stressed that this project would not have been realised if there had been no will for change, starting from the state and the Ministry of Justice to commercial courts.
This system is financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of the Commercial Court Administration Strengthening Activity (CCASA) whose value is $12.8 million.
