The Princess is taking part in a project worth over €260,000 aimed at modernising intensive care wards in neonatal centres in Serbia.
Milosavljevic recalled that the project began in May 2005 at the initiative of the Princess Katarina Foundation and was realised together with the health ministry and supported by the Greek and Serbian medical boards.
He said that the project includes health centres in Belgrade (Gynaecology Institute, Neonatology Institute and Children's University Clinic), Novi Sad (Children's Hospital), Nis (Children's Hospital) and Kragujevac (Gynaecology Clinic). In the course of the project these centres received very valuable medical equipment.
The Minister said that neonatal wards in Belgrade received portable incubators, portable X-rays, nasal pumps, cardio monitors and other medical equipment.
The Princess and Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic opened the new Centre for Diabetes in pregnancy at the Clinical Centre's Endocrinology Institute. The Princess Katarina Foundation helped reconstruct this centre with €15,000.
