Centre for early diagnosis and therapy of children with impaired hearing

Serbian Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic and representative of non-governmental humanitarian organisation the Bridge of Life Edward Wayne opened today the Centre for early diagnosis and therapy of children with impaired hearing - the Children's House, which is part of children's hospital Olga Dedier at the Zvezdara Clinical Centre.

Director of the Zvezdara Clinical Centre Zoran Ivankovic said that this is the first centre of this kind in Serbia and the region, which will function as a daily hospital in which complete treatment of more than 200 children with all levels of hearing defects will be carried out, in conditions completely adjusted to children's needs.

He said that diagnosis will include otorinolaringology, audiological, psychological and defectology-surdopedagogical diagnosis and therapy.

According to Ivankovic, there are other institutions that also perform certain aspects of diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of patients, but the importance of this institution is that everything is gathered in one place, at a very well arranged humane space, thanks to the donation from the Bridge of Life.

The Minister of Health said that owing to Edward Wayne and the Bridge of Life, the Children's House is the first hospital surrounded by understanding, friendship and positive vibes, which will be an obligation of all health workers and every other hospital in Serbia.
