Ilic said that the rest of the funds will be provided next year and noted that the 5-kilometre ring-road has been entrusted to Uzice-based Putevi.
The ring-road will include a 212-metre-long bridge, said the Minister and announced that a tender for contractors on the Djetinja River will be announced soon while the works should kick off next spring.
According to Ilic, the Uzice ring-road, whose total value is €16 million, is only part of the investment on the road network in that region.
He pointed to the particular significance of construction works on the highway from Borova Glava to Kokin Brod, as well as the Ovcar Banja ring-road, which should be finished before the end of the year.
Funds have been set aside in the National Investment Plan for works on the joint civil-military airport Ponikve, said Ilic, and recalled that the Ministry of Capital Investment and the Serbian government gave funds in advance so that the reconstruction of the airport could begin. He added that funds necessary for finishing the project have now been secured.
Mayor of Uzice Tihomir Petkovic said that the construction of a ring-road around that city will allow goods and transit transport to shift from the centre, reduce air pollution in Uzice and surrounding areas, and improve road travel towards Bajina Basta, Tara and Republika Srpska.
