Addressing the recipients of the decorations he presented on the occasion of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, Vučić underlined that these decorations also represent a recognition for their personal courage, effort and sacrifice, as well as for their work to strengthen the Serbian state and the Serbian people.
You have shown with your deeds what true service to the homeland looks like and how personal example turns into collective strength. On the day when we commemorate the breakthrough of the Salonica Front, when we remember all those who gave their lives for freedom, we have a duty to say that their sacrifice was not in vain. It was the foundation on which Serbia rests, the President said.
The official ceremony at the Palace of Serbia was also attended by Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, with members of the Cabinet, Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia Ana Brnabić, Belgrade Mayor Aleksandar Šapić and representatives of Serbs from the region.
Serbia and Republika Srpska mark the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag in memory of 15 September 1918, when the Serbian Army broke through the Salonica Front, which led to the collapse of the Central Powers and the end of the First World War.
The commemoration ends today, and on that occasion the grand military parade Power of Unity was held.
