The parade was attended by President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, Serbian government ministers, Speaker of the National Assembly Ana Brnabić, members of the National Assembly, as well as political representatives of Serbs from the region.
The event was also attended by guests from abroad, including President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a delegation of Bahrain led by Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, as well as military delegations from France, China, Hungary and the United States.
The parade began with the playing of the Serbian anthem and an honorary artillery salute by members of the Guard from six guns with ten volleys and the carrying of the Serbian flag, 300 metres long and weighing 300 kilograms.
Visitors had the opportunity to see a parade of echelons of units of all branches and services in the Serbian Armed Forces, cadets of the Military Academy, vehicle-mounted units and vessels of the Riverine Flotilla, and the parade programme also included a demonstration of the capabilities of the Cobra Special Purpose Military Police Detachment, an exercise by members of the Guard, as well as a parachute jump by members of the 63rd Parachute Brigade.
All types of aircraft participated in the flypast of the echelons of aviation units, and among the numerous means of armament and military equipment, missile systems for anti-aircraft operations, modern radars and armoured combat vehicles were also displayed.
Also on display were modern tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled howitzers, modernised anti-aircraft systems PASARS, unmanned aerial vehicles, reconnaissance and combat drones.
The grand military parade ended with a paratrooper jump from a helicopter, from a height of between 1,500 and 2,000 metres. One paratrooper carried the flag of the Republic of Serbia, and the other the flag of the Serbian Armed Forces.
The Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag is celebrated in memory of the Serbian flag carried by soldiers during the breakthrough of the Salonica Front on 15 September 1918, when the Serbian people, united in a common goal, won victory and went down in history as an example of courage and unity.
