Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić stated following talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe Amon Murwira that important steps had been taken earlier in the day towards further strengthening bilateral relations, including the signing of cooperation agreements between the two ministries of foreign affairs and between the diplomatic academies of Serbia and Zimbabwe.

At a joint news conference with Murwira, Đurić particularly highlighted the importance of the agreement to establish a standing Serbia-Zimbabwe cooperation commission, which, he noted, will elevate bilateral relations to a strategic level, enable regular coordination between the two countries’ ministries and institutions, and ensure systematic planning of cooperation in the fields of the economy, science, education and defence.
The head of Serbian diplomacy assessed that Zimbabwe’s participation in Specialised Expo 2027 Belgrade will provide an opportunity for the country to showcase its rich cultural heritage, sporting achievements, traditions and other strengths to the world.
Murwira said that today’s discussions focused on further strengthening the political dialogue between the two countries, as well as cooperation in the fields of culture, education, science and other areas of mutual interest.
He reiterated Zimbabwe’s firm support for Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, underscoring commitment to the principles of international law, peaceful coexistence and non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states.
Murwira also confirmed that Zimbabwe will re-establish a permanent diplomatic presence in Belgrade during the coming year.
