Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, attended today at the General Jovan Mišković barracks in Banjica a ceremony at which 102 cadets of the 147th class of the Military Academy and 28 cadets of the 12th class of the Faculty of Medicine of the Military Medical Academy were promoted to the first officer ranks.

At the ceremony, which was attended, among others, by Minister of Defence Bratislav Gašić and other members of the Serbian government and Speaker of the Serbian Parliament Ana Brnabić, President of the Republic Aleksandar Vučić presented the best young officers with sabers.
In his address, Vučić said that today our army is better armed and equipped and incomparably stronger than before, because Serbia is now strong enough.
According to him, the state managed to change the conditions at the Military Academy and renovated and furnished almost all the facilities.
In the meantime, we have armed ourselves, equipped ourselves and become an incomparably stronger army than we were yesterday, he emphasised, adding that we did this not because we want to threaten anyone, not because we want to endanger anyone, but because we have learned bitter lessons from our history that whenever we were weak, others came to humiliate and subjugate us and seize part of our territory.
