Ilic said that the project, valued at around 100 million dinars and targeted for completion by the end of the year, will help to reduce traffic in central Kraljevo.
He also said that the construction of a ring road around the Zica monastery, valued at some 140 million dinars, will be completed in a month’s time.
The ring road will also increase road safety, said Ilic and recalled that accidents on the Ibar highway claimed around 600 lives in the past year.
Following the ceremony, Ilic visited Kraljevo’s Fabrika Vagona, which will soon sign an agreement to deliver 120 rail cars to Congo’s national railway company.
The deal is worth $9.5 million and the rail cars are due to be delivered in ten months, Ilic explained following a meeting with Congolese Ambassador to Serbia-Montenegro Heva Muakasa.
According to Ilic, talks are under way on supplying a further 390 rail cars to Congo’s railway.
The African country is also interested in cooperation with Serbia-Montenegro in the fields of energy and agriculture, Ilic said.
Ambassador Muakasa noted that this is the first time in 15 years that an official from Congo has visited Serbia-Montenegro and he called on Serbian experts to take part in Congo’s economic development.
