Having signed the protocol, Naumov said that gas, an energy source of the future, is to become available to another 400,000 households in Serbia, adding that such gas infrastructure is worth approximately $320 million.
He said that apart from the domestic sources, the Ministry also aims to provide the funds through the EU, the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe, the European Commission and other foreign sources.
Naumov announced that another meeting of the working group for financing the gas infrastructure in southeast Europe will be held in October in Vrnjacka Banja, and added that more than 40 representatives of the European Commission, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and other international financial institutions will attend the meeting.
According to him, there will be another meeting focusing on expanding the gas distribution network in southeast Europe, and 50 representatives of the European Commission and gas companies are expected to come.
Naumov recalled that the European Commissioner for Energetics, Andris Pielbags, has more than clearly stated his support to the development of Serbia’s energy sector. He added that another protocol on the introduction of gas pipelines was signed on July 26 with representatives of 26 municipalities in the Raska and Rasinksi districts.
During his visit to Nis, Naumov attended the opening ceremony of a restored and modernised Energogas liquid gas distribution centre, whose previous facilities were destroyed in the 1999 NATO bombing.
