Serbian Minister of Capital Investment Velimir Ilic visited Guca today as a representative of the Serbian government, which for the first time is sponsoring the ‘Dragacevo Assembly of Trumpet Players’. The minister used this opportunity to become acquainted with the preparations of this renowned festival and announce the government’s involvement in projects in the city.
Ilic said at the press conference that about € 4.5 million has been invested for infrastructure development. These funds, which have been allocated by the Serbian government, are being used for finishing the construction of two bridges on the Belica River, for city streets, the water supply system, and for the ‘Saboriste’, which is where the final competition of the trumpet players is being held.
Ilic stated today that the Serbian government is completely aware of the great importance of Guca and the ‘Dragacevo Assembly of Trumpet Players’ as an exceptional Serbian tourist destination.
The mayor of the Lucani municipality and President of the Organisational Committee of the ‘Dragacevo Assembly of Trumpet Players’ Slobodan Jolovic expressed gratitude to everyone who assisted Guca this year to host about half a million visitors during the seven days of the festival. He added that this year’s investments have exceeded three-times the amount of the municipality’s budget.
