The meeting was attended by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus, Minister of Economy Predrag Bubalo, Minister of International Economic Relations Milan Parivodic, Minister of Capital Investments Velimir Ilic, Minister of Finance Mladjan Dinkic, Minister of Trade, Tourism and Services Bojan Dimitrijevic, Minister of Energy and Mining Radomir Naumov, and Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Policy Slobodan Lalovic.
Kostunica and Labus gave opening addresses at the meeting, along with Stojan Stamenkovic of Belgrade’s Economics Institute and Danko Djuric, president of the Serbian Business Association ‘Privrednik’, who had initiated the meeting and proposed the adoption of a national strategy for economic development.
Government representatives and the business community talked about elements of a national strategy, and pointed out that it is necessary to work together on Serbia’s economic development and strengthening.
On Kostunica’s proposal, it was decided to form a working group, comprising government members and business leaders, that will combine all ideas and proposals brought up at this meeting, and prepare for the next meeting, which is due to take place in early September.
It was also agreed to create a model of permanent cooperation between the government and business community. The business leaders said they are ready to work with the government on achieving dynamic economic growth, increasing the employment rate, reaching economic and social stability, and improving the competitiveness of the Serbian economy.
