State railway company Zeleznice Srbije said today that it will apply for a loan of some €80 million from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to continue works on Corridor 10, which include the reconstruction of railroads between Belgrade and Nis, Belgrade and Sid, Nis and Dimitrovgrad, and Stara Pazova and Subotica.
Zeleznice Srbije will also seek a €60 million credit line for the procurement of 1,700 freight cars as well as a further €2 million for a new lathe for wheels, according to the statement.
The statement went on to say that the reconstruction of Corridor 10 between Petrovaradin and Cortanovci will begin on September 1 as well as that an agreement has been reached with Croatia on a reconstruction of a bridge near Bogojevo, which was damaged in the 1999 NATO bombardment, and which could begin next year.
